1. Recruiting
Only players that seem to be a good fit for the guild will be recruited. Members of the guild can recommend another player to be recruited.
All recruits must read the rules and requirements and must apply trough Application page

  2. Invitation
Players who want to join our guild should have a look on our website to get a feeling for our guild. Recruitees must be able to speak English. After posting the information about the player on the website the Administrator (Northern Sky rank) will have a chat and then decide to invite or not invite the player.

The class of the player isn't a free ticket into the guild. We believe that a member that doesn't fit, harms more then his/her class could help us.

  3. To be a member
Members should be nice and helpful. They should try help other guild members when possible. Remember that we all play WoW to have fun (this is true for lower levels as well as higher levels - don't ask someone to do something you wouldn't expect to be asked yourself).

  4. Promotions
To be eligible for promotion you have to be an active member of the guild, e.g. help your guildmates, install the NS addons, keep your roster updated and so on.

  5. Warnings
If a member is warned three times he will be asked to leave the guild (or if necessary: kicked). Warnings are given by the officers. The following is not a complete list but should give some hints:
    • intentional (or repeated) ninja looting
    • rude words in any open channel (raid channel, guild channel and so on)
    • verbally attacking any player (guild or non guild player)
    • intentionally causing a wipe
    • ...

The officers will discuss these matters in the officers channel and/or forum.

  6. Looting
Special attention must be paid to the looting aspect since it's a very hotly debated subject.
In general when doing guild-only parties/raids, the common lootrules are:

    • Bind on Equip (BoE) items: all greed(Coin) roll on the item, if you win something that another guildie needs, pass it on.
    • Bind on Pickup (BoP) items: all pass (Cross) unless you need (Dice) the item, if all passed discuss do a manual /roll and the highest roller gets the item (or a shard if the winner rather wants that and a willing enchanter is in the group)
    • Epic items: BoE: all greed (Coin) roll unless you need (Dice) the item (ie, you have the right class for it). If no one needs, one person can auction it off and split the cash between all attendees of the raid/guild in equal shares (if all agree to it otherwise /roll)
    • Epic items: BoP: all pass (Cross) unless you need (Dice) the item (ie, you have the right class for it), if all passed discuss do a manual /roll and the highest roller gets the item (or a shard if the winner rather wants that and a willing enchanter is in the group)
    • Gems: In this category all gems, and such items (pristine black diamonds, righteous orbs, brilliant chromatic scale, carapace, to name a few), they're worth a LOT of money so all should roll greed on them. What each person does with the won item is his/her choice. Pass it on to a guildie for no cost, or low price, sell it on AH, it's the person's choice.
    • In General: If YOU don't know what an item is for and it's BoP, pass. Do research to know who needs that particular item before mindlessly rolling on it and finding out later that you didn't need it after all (and risking a /gkick because it will be considered a ninja act)
    • ALWAYS agree on lootrules before starting the raid/instance, if YOU are looking for a particular item, SAY so in advance, and ASK if there's any objections to you getting that particular item if it drops.
    • Additional notes:
Greed roll: Press the "coin" icon in the loot roll window
Need roll: Press the "dice" icon in the loot roll window
Pass: Press the little cross icon to the topright of the loot roll window, or let the timer run out

Note: rules for your particular party/raid can be different. Everyone should agree on them before starting.

Crafting reagents obtained during the raid will be sent to raidbank without exception.
    • The raid leader will designate a raid miner who will mine all ore and send it to the guild bank NSraid.
    • The raid leader will designate a raid herbalist who will collect all herbs and send them to the guild bank NSraid.
    • The raid leader will designate a raid skinner who will skin all corpses and send items collected to the guild bank NSraid.

  7. Changes to the Guild Rules
This list of rules is a living document and will be extended and modified to be adaptable to the way we want to have our guild. Suggestion for changes to the Guild Charter and Rules can be made by every member. The Officers will then vote over the Change Request. A request will pass if there are no more than 3 NO votes.

  8. Leaving Northern Sky
There is NO guarantee of a second chance, getting invited back is based on a decision made by Leaders and above.

All RP will be erased from anyone who quits the guild.

IF you are invited back you come back as a new member.
    This means:
    • You come back as an Initiate,
    • You have to undergo the 1 month trial
    • You get put up for membership vote again,
    • You have 0 RP in all instances,

So think twice before using the /gquit command.

    • Miscellaneous
Anything not listed in this article is subject to the best judgement of Officers online at the time.

1.5 Where to go when I have a complain about an guildie ?

You contact directly to an Officer or Administrator or GM.

2. Recruitment and Invitation

2.1 Recruitment

Only players that seem to be a good fit for the guild will be recruited. Northern sky is raiding guild, thus its main function is to ensure raiding progress and it is expected from its members to be heavily involved in raid progression. All new members are therefore recruited for the raiding needs of the guild.
Beeing fit for NS guild means to have abilities to:

- Understand English language
- Your char is highest available level in WOW.
- Can install necessery mods that is required by NS guild such as raid
control mods, agro monitoring mods and such.
- Can install software that is used for voice communication during raids.
- Act mature in both guild life and raids
- Have at least superior gear with equivalent quality enchants and gems.
Better gear gives you more chance to be accepted into the guild.
- Be able to play your class to best of its abilities.
- Be capable of joining most of raids on Northern sky weekly assigned
raiding days, and attend from begining till the end of it.
- Prepared to use Flasks/Potions/Bufffood for every raid.

Members of the guild can recommend another player to be recruited.
There is no system of vouching anymore.

2.2 Invitation
Players who want to join our guild should have a look on our website to get a feeling for our guild.

Recruits must be at least 18 years old, able to speak English and agree to the Guild Rules.

After posting the information about the player on the website the Guild Recruiter or Administrator or GM will have a chat and then decide to invite or not invite the player.

The class of the player isn't a free ticket into the guild. We believe that a member that doesn't fit, harms more then his/her class could help us.

Note:

If you join Northern Sky, this character will be your main. If you have characters in other guild(s) they can join NS aswell. However we are not an parking guild where you can gear one of your alt(s) and in the meantime play in another guild on your main.

This also counts for playing more on the char that is not in NS.( This includes no signing up for guildraids, but in meanwhile go raiding with other char in other guild)

If we see you play your characters in other guild more, then you can ask yourself why you are in NS, an we can ask you to leave or perform an gkick.

We are not a parking guild.

The trial is 1 month.

2.3 To be a member
Members should be nice and helpful. They should try helping other guild members when possible.
Remember: We all play WoW to have fun!!!

This is applies for lower levels as well as higher levels - don't ask someone to do something you wouldn't expect to be asked yourself

3 Raid Rules

3.1 Discipline
There is a standard of discipline required on our Raids. Players are expected to behave with respect and friendliness towards each other. Players are also expected to listen to their Raid Leader and Class Leader at all times. Players are free to express themselves within the confines of a controlled raid environment. Players are also expected to be focused and alert throughout the event.

3.2 Attendance

Raid members who sign up to take a place in a Raid are expected to attend. The only exceptions to this rule is if at least 2 hours notice of unavailability has been given to an Raid Leader. However constant failure to attend regardless of notice will be punished.

If it happens you can not show up for a raid in which you are selected, then it is required you post it on the Raid Sign Off forum; so the RL can look for a replacement.

3.3 Availability

All raid members are expected to be available for the entire length of an event.
All players should be aware of this before signing up for an event.
If you can not make the start time or you will have to leave early. Then write a note with your sign up on teh calendar. The RL will decide to pick you or not.
We will allow people to go AFK for short periods, if advised and agreed in advance. If however you are AFK regularly, or for long periods regardless of prior arrangements, you will be punished and risk a ban from future events for a certain period of time.

Failure to Attend

Any player who signs up for an event, is then selected to attend the event then fails to turn up for the event or fails to inform Raid Leader within 2 hours of the event start time will receive a -RP or equivalent penalty.

That person might also be banned from selection for the next weeks events.

We also ask to sign up for NSraids as much as possible. When you are not selected but on the reservelist, we ask you to standby until 30 minutes after the raid is started, so the Rl can ask you to come should someone of the selected people not show up.

Helping out friends in other guilds is no problem as long if you are :

* you do sign up for every raid you can.
* you are available when the RL asking you

If the NS management see, you go more raiding with other guilds instead of signing up for NSraids, we can ask you to leave guild.
This also counts for when you go raiding with another guild after you have declined an invitation from RL to join an NS raid.

3.3.3. Alts and Raiding

The “alt versus main” discussion has been going on for years now. Now and in the past, people who played alts often helped out in rough times. The thing is that we did not had CLEAR rules for it.
So with this for once and for all:

Main and Alt are equal:

This is a title nowadays, as quote: "Player can have multiple main characters //........// my main with raiding level of gear/skill"- meaning that as long as your character have the required gear and skill of a raider it has right to the title "Main" if the player wants to have it.

Example:

Player A clearly stated that he/she want his char class X to be a main. He/she have the gear and skill required for it > The toon have the right to be a main. And with this also the right to bid on loot from 25 mans with his/her rp that he/she have earned the same way as everyone else have. Therefore, Non should question his/her actions in this matter, since he/she acted according to the rules!

We know loosing gear to an “alt” can be unpleasant. We just got to accept it, move on, and hope for the next drop.

Resume:

1. Get the right to bid in 25 mans
2. Have to sign up with your main aswell, not your alt only when they are signing up for 25 mans
3. What it means to be a main: Requirements on gear and skill
4. THE RAIDLEADER SELECTS THE TEAM: IF YOUR FAVORITE CHAR DIDN'T GET PICKED TUFF LUCK AND BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME
5. And remember you where accepted in NS with your first char, so that char still will has prior to be choosen by the RL.

If you really want to change completly with a char, the officers will have to be notified.
Initiates can not change main. You where invited into the guild based on the char you applied with.

3.3.4 Behavior

All raid members are expected to play to the best of their ability. Helping and assisting your fellow guild member is greatly encouraged. Raid members are also expected to play fair and with respect.

NS does not tolerate abusive behavior from it's members in raid or on TS!! Teamspeak is for the RL and not for giving comments on eachothers.

We expect players to be focused/helpful/skillful/respectful, at all times.

You don't come to a raid PVP flagged, or attack Hordeplayers while you in a raid and waiting at the entrance.

3.4.5 Raid Selections

Raid selections are performed by the Raid Leader responsible for the Event. Its his/hers duty to compile a balance, successful raid. Only the RL and only him/her choose the people.

3.6 Penalties

The following is a list of Penalties that raid members will receive if they fail to play by the Raid Rules. This also includes leaving a raid before it ends. ( not for emergency cases)

* First Time: - 5 RP
* Second time: -10 RP and demotion of rank
* Third time: gkick

3.7 Reagent Requirements + Durability

WOTLK (minimum requirements)

Paladin:
min 10 Symbol of Divinity
min 250 Symbol of Kings

Mages:
min 40 Arcane Power

Druids:
min 40 Wild spineleaf
min 10 Starleaf seed

Priests:
min 60 Devout Candles

Shaman:
min 10 Ankhs

Warlocks:
min 28 shards

Death Knights:
min 20 Corpse dust (depends on specc)

Hunters:
min 4000 bullits or arrows and enough food for your pet, evntually buffood for pet.

If the there is no viable explanation on loss of reagents, that person will be charged -RP , ammount will be determine by RL.

You come to a raid with 100% Durability and not with 99% or lower.

3.8 Bad Raid Behavior

Any player who shows repeated lack of respect for any member of the raid group or is regularly disruptive to the raid group will be warned. If at any time the player's attitude and lack of respect for fellow raid members returns they will be kicked from the raid and demoted from their present rank.

Any rank might be subject to vote for removal from the Guild.

The same penalty will be enforced for any harassment of an individual or class. All rules for attitude/ego/behavior/harassment also apply on TeamSpeak.

If any player is seen to "Ninja" an item of equipment from any raid, they will be removed from the immediately. They will be removed from the Guild. (Mistakes will be investigated, and fairness administered).

NS does not tolerate any form of racism or discrimination in any condition.
Instant gkick will follow by GM or an administrator.

3.9 Lack of Control

Players who:

- refuses to listen to Raid Leader;
- repeatedly fails to perform as expected;
- causes repeated raid wipes;
- regularly over-aggros to race up the damage meters;
- fails to listen to instructions;
- show behavior of a lootwhore;
- fails to work effectively as a team,

will be warned by an Officer or an Leader, or even the GM.
If any or all of the previous situations arise again the player will be reported to the attention of the Officers. That player will then be voted on for demotion to a lower rank and expulsion from the Guild.

3.10 Raiding Times

All raid group events will start at 21:00(Game Server Time) unless prior advance warning has been given to all. Invites will be starting 15-20 minutes before the event will take place. The RL will expect you be there at raidtime and not on the other side of the world, locks needs their shards for more usefull things then putting up the wide televisonscreen for summoning. If you have signed up with a note you are later, please park infront of the instance.

Raiding times will be at the discretion of the Raid Leader. All Major raiding events start at 2100. The end time is on RLs discretion based on the raid situation, but usually at the midnight. RLs might set up events other times, specially on weekends and during holiday seasons"

3.11 General Loot and Resources

Blue and Epic BoE items will be collected by a nominated representative( the Masterlooter or another officer if the ML is to far away to take item), and NO ONE ELSE. These items will be collected and sent to the appropriate guild bank character at the end of the raid.

"Cool recipes" such as emofood, shirts, etc are RP free and are rolled for when time permits

Green/Blue/Epic BoP recipes for crafting( tailoring, leatherworking, blacksmithing,enginering,...) epic stuff or a certain alchemypotion, or jewelcrafting will be auctioned.

Green stuff is taken by the ML to disenchant for guildbank.

3.12 Loot Distribution

Members and above have a loot preference over Initiates, in all cases; even in the raidinstances where no RP are used, this does not counts for pugs or party.
Initiates can bid up to 5 rp for an item. When bidding against another initiate, they will be asked to roll on the item, the one who win will get reduced -5 RP. We also ask here you remember you play in a team.

Within the trial period, Initiaties still accumulates the RPs for raiding with the guild.

Further decisions are at the discretion of the Raid Leader.

4 Promotions

Promotions can only be done by the GM or Administrator and have to be discussed in the forum (via polls). Also here the GM can have his/her Ultimate Veto.

4.1 Initiates

You will not be able to be promoted to full membership until you have registered on the forums and become an active member, installed the Northern Sky required addons and managed your profile on the roster.

After the trial period in the Guild (1 month), you'll be put up for the vote. Active Leaders and Higher will be asked to vote either yes, no or abstain during a voting period. At the end of this period the outcome of the poll will decide if you will be offered an invite into the Guild and given Active Member status or not. As an Active Member you will be able to receive loot at Guild events, use the Guild Bank, in full rights.

Bankforum: http://www.northernskyguild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14831

4.2 Leaders

Nomination
For the Leader position you can volunteer yourself or be nominated by fellow members

Acceptance
The acceptance of the candidates will be done by the joint agreement between Officers and existent Leaders

4.3 Officers

Nominations and Acceptance are done by existent Officers, Administrators and Guild Master

4.4 Administrator

Nominations and Acceptance are done exclusively by existent Administrators and Guild Master.

5 GQuits and GKicks

5.1 GQuit

Upon a member typing /gquit, (s)he indicates unwillingness of following the guild rules and style of existence.

There is NO guarantee of a second chance anymore.

Getting invited back is based on a decision made by Officers and above.

All RP will be erased from anyone who quits the guild.

5.1.1. Getting back invited after an gquit/gkick

IF you are invited back you come back as a new member.
This includes:
- You come back as an Initiate,
- You have to undergo the 1 month trial
- You get put up for membership vote again,
- You have 0 RP in all instances,
- You have to regain the trust of your Leaders and fellow members.

GQuit should not be used as an ultimatum or oppression.

Such action might be resulted in a GKick by the GM.

5.2 Gkick

5.2.1 Inactivity

Recruits - will be kicked after 2 weeks of inactivity, unless they posted an message (holiday,work,...)- they are welcome to reapply if their circumstances change.

Members/Leaders - will be kicked after 2 months of inactivity, unless they posted a message(holiday, work,...) - they are welcome to reapply if their circumstances change. They will mostly likely start from an initiate again, but their position will be open for discussion by officers.

Officers - will be kicked after 3 months of inactivity, unless they posted a message(holiday, work...) - they are welcome to reapply if their circumstances change, their position in the guild goes for discussion by the officers.

Alts will be kicked after 2 months inactivity, regardless of the mains position; they are of course welcome back should the main decide to play them again.

5.2.2 Recruit Polls

Too many no votes will result in you being asked to leave the guild, you will have 2 days to say goodbye and leave, after that you will be kicked. The number of no votes it takes will depend on the number of yes and abstain.

Two abstain votes, where you have failed to receive enough yes votes in two polls (run one month after each other) you will be asked to leave the guild, you will have 2 days to say goodbye and leave, after that you will be kicked.

6 Warnings

Warnings will be issued for various ranges of bad behavior, including, but not limited to:

- Acting badly in a 'pug', where the guild receives a complaint, this could be leaving the group, offering to help then leaving, 'ninjaing' loot
- Acting badly in a 'guild pug', where a class leader or officer receives a complaint.
- Acting badly in a guild raid, where a class leader or officer receives a complaint.
- Leaving a raid without any notice to RL.

Depending on the nature of the complaint, you may receive 2 warnings in total, which do not have to be about the same complaint, IE one can be for ninjaing, one for telling someone you'll help with a quest then not, and the 2rd being rude or abusive in a group.

Some offences, upon Officer discussion and decision, can result in an instant gkick depending on length in the guild, nature and seriousness of the complaint etc.

Please understand that while you are in a pug you are acting on behalf of Northern Sky, how you act reflects back to the guild as a whole, and the other members in it, so we will not tolerate anyone degrading Northern Sky's guild name or reputation.

7 Looting
Special attention must be paid to the looting aspect since it's a very hotly debated subject.

7.1 General, guild-only parties

Bind on Equip (BoE) items: all greed(Coin) roll on the item, if you win something that another guildie needs, pass it on.

Bind on Pickup (BoP) items: all pass (Cross) unless you need (Dice) the item, if all passed discuss do a manual /roll and the highest roller gets the item (or a shard if the winner rather wants that and a willing enchanter is in the group)

Epic items: BoE: all greed (Coin) roll unless you need (Dice) the item (ie, you have the right class for it). If no one needs, one person can auction it off and split the cash between all attendees of the raid/guild in equal shares (if all agree to it otherwise /roll)

What each person does with the won item is his/her choice. Pass it on to a Guild Member for no cost, or low price, sell it on AH, it's the person's choice.

7.2 PUG
Remember: while you are in a pug you are acting on behalf of Northern Sky, how you act reflects back to the guild as a whole, and the other members in it!!!

7.3 In General

If YOU don't know what an item is for and it's BoP, pass. Do research to know who needs that particular item before mindlessly rolling on it and finding out later that you didn't need it after all (and risking a /gkick because it will be considered a ninja act)

Rules for your particular party can be different. ALWAYS agree on loot rules before starting the raid/instance, if YOU are looking for a particular item, SAY so in advance, and ASK if there's any objections to you getting that particular item if it drops.

7.3.1 Additional notes

Greed roll: Press the "coin" icon in the loot roll window

Need roll: Press the "dice" icon in the loot roll window

Pass: Press the little cross icon to the top right of the loot roll window, or let the timer run out.

In instances where there can be found resources like: herbs, leather, mining etc... will be gathered by 1 person assigned by the RL or any Officer to collect for the guildbank.

7.4 Raid

There will be always an ML on. Should the ML be to far away you pass on all loot.

8 Changes to the Guild Rules

This list of rules is a living document and will be extended and modified to be adaptable to the way we want to have our guild. Suggestion for changes to the Guild Charter and Rules can be made by every member. The Officers and higher will then vote over the Change Request.

9 Miscellaneous

Anything not listed in this article is subject to the best Judgment of Officers online at the time.
